One step at a time

Let’s make it

  1. Cinnamon Syrup

In a small saucepan, combine brown sugar, water (100 ml), and the cinnamon stick. Bring to a gentle boil over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until the sugar dissolves completely. Reduce heat and simmer for 5 minutes to infuse the cinnamon flavor. Remove from heat and let the syrup cool completely. Remove and discard the cinnamon stick.

  2. Coffee Brew

Meanwhile, bring 300 ml of water to a near boil in a separate pot or kettle. Add ground coffee and the cinnamon stick to a heat-proof jug or French press. Pour the hot water over the coffee and cinnamon stick, let steep for 4 minutes for a strong brew. Then strain or press to separate the coffee grounds. Discard the cinnamon stick.

  3. Finishing

Fill a large glass with ice cubes (150 grams). Pour the brewed coffee over the ice to chill it instantly.

  4. Finishing

Add 2-3 tablespoons (about 30-45 ml) of the cooled cinnamon syrup to the coffee, adjusting sweetness to taste. Then pour chilled milk (150 ml) over the coffee and syrup mixture. Stir gently to combine all flavors evenly.

A little kitchen wisdom

Tips & notes

Use filtered water for better coffee taste. Adjust the cinnamon syrup quantity to your desired sweetness. For a dairy-free option, substitute milk with almond or oat milk. Preparing the syrup ahead and storing it in the fridge allows for quick iced coffee assembly.

Saving it for later

Store leftover cinnamon syrup in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 1 week. Keep brewed coffee covered and refrigerated for up to 24 hours; re-chill with fresh ice before serving.

Reheating

This iced coffee is intended to be served cold and is best enjoyed fresh. If reheating is desired, warm brewed coffee separately on the stovetop or microwave, but note the milk and ice should be added fresh after reheating.
