One step at a time

Let’s make it

  1. Brewing

Bring water and sliced fresh ginger to a boil in a medium saucepan over medium-high heat. Once boiling, reduce heat and simmer for 5 minutes to infuse ginger flavor.

  2. Brewing

Remove saucepan from heat and add black tea leaves or tea bags. Cover and steep for 4 to 5 minutes, depending on desired strength.

  3. Finishing

Strain the tea through a fine mesh sieve into a heatproof pitcher to remove tea leaves and ginger slices. Stir in fresh lemon juice and honey if using, mixing until honey dissolves completely.

  4. Cooling

Allow the brewed tea to cool to room temperature, then refrigerate until chilled, about 1 to 2 hours.

  5. Serving

To serve, fill glasses with ice cubes to taste, pour chilled lemon ginger black tea over the ice, and garnish with lemon slices if desired.

A little kitchen wisdom

Tips & notes

Adjust the steeping time for stronger or lighter tea. Fresh ginger can be sliced thinner for more intense flavor. Honey is optional and can be substituted with other sweeteners.

Saving it for later

Store brewed tea covered in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Remove lemon slices before storing to prevent bitterness.

Reheating

This iced tea is intended to be served cold and is not recommended for reheating.
