Ingredients
Check ingredients as you go.
Let’s make it
In a medium saucepan, combine water, ground coffee, and the cinnamon stick. Bring the mixture to a gentle boil over medium heat.
Once boiling, reduce heat to low and let the coffee simmer for 5 minutes to extract the flavor, stirring occasionally.
Remove the saucepan from heat and strain the coffee through a fine mesh sieve or coffee filter into a heatproof container to remove grounds and cinnamon stick. Discard grounds and cinnamon stick.
While the coffee is still warm, stir in granulated sugar until dissolved. Adjust sweetness to your taste.
Allow the coffee to cool to room temperature, then refrigerate for at least 15 minutes or until chilled.
To serve, fill glasses with ice cubes and pour chilled coffee about two-thirds full. Top off with cold milk to your preference and stir gently.
Tips & notes
Use whole milk for a creamy texture or substitute with your preferred milk alternative. Adjust sugar to taste, or omit for unsweetened iced coffee. For stronger cinnamon flavor, add a small pinch of ground cinnamon along with the stick during brewing.
Saving it for later
Refrigerate leftover chilled coffee in an airtight container for up to 2 days. Stir well before serving again.
Reheating
This iced coffee is best served chilled and not reheated. Reheat only if preparing as a hot coffee, but omit ice and milk when doing so.
