Let’s make it

  1. Tea Base

Bring 1 liter of water to a boil. Remove from heat and add the black tea bags. Steep for 5 minutes, then remove the tea bags and discard them.

  2. Sweetener

While the tea is hot, stir in the granulated sugar until fully dissolved. Allow the sweetened tea to cool to room temperature.

  3. Flavor

Place the hulled and halved fresh strawberries in a large pitcher. Pour the cooled sweet tea over the strawberries.

  4. Flavor

Use a spoon or potato masher to gently muddle the strawberries in the tea, releasing their flavor and color. Chill the pitcher in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour to infuse.

  5. Serving

When ready to serve, fill glasses with ice cubes and pour the strawberry sweet tea over. Garnish with lemon slices if desired and serve immediately.

A little kitchen wisdom

Tips & notes

For a stronger strawberry flavor, let the muddled strawberries infuse overnight. Adjust sugar according to your taste or substitute with honey or agave syrup. Serve chilled with fresh lemon slices for extra brightness.

Saving it for later

Store leftover strawberry sweet tea covered in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Stir well before serving as some settling may occur.

Reheating

This beverage is best served cold. Do not reheat. If desired, serve chilled or over fresh ice cubes.
