One step at a time

Let’s make it

  1. Pie Base

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Place the pie crust into a 9-inch pie dish if not already fitted. Crimp the edges as desired.

  2. Pie Filling

In a mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, light corn syrup, dark brown sugar, melted butter, vanilla extract, and salt until smooth and combined.

  3. Pie Filling

Stir the chopped pecans into the filling mixture until evenly distributed.

  4. Pie Base

Pour the pecan filling into the prepared pie crust, spreading evenly.

  5. Pie Baking

Bake the pie in the preheated oven for about 50-55 minutes. The pie should be set around the edges but slightly jiggly in the center.

  6. Cooling

Remove the pie from the oven and set it on a wire rack to cool completely, about 2 hours, to allow the filling to set properly.

  7. Bourbon Whipped Cream

While the pie is cooling, prepare the bourbon whipped cream. In a chilled bowl, pour the cold heavy cream and add powdered sugar and bourbon.

  8. Bourbon Whipped Cream

Whip the cream mixture using an electric mixer on medium-high speed until soft peaks form. Do not overbeat.

  9. Serving

Serve slices of pecan pie topped with a generous dollop of bourbon whipped cream.

A little kitchen wisdom

Tips & notes

Use a metal pie dish for more even baking. Let the pie cool fully before slicing to ensure clean, firm slices. For a more intense bourbon flavor, you can increase bourbon in the whipped cream by a teaspoon, but avoid adding too much to keep the cream stable.

Saving it for later

Store leftover pecan pie covered with plastic wrap or in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Store bourbon whipped cream separately in the refrigerator and use within 24 hours for best texture.

Reheating

Pecan pie is best served at room temperature or chilled. If preferred warm, reheat individual slices in a microwave for about 15-20 seconds until just warmed through. Do not microwave the whipped cream; add fresh before serving.
