One step at a time

Let’s make it

  1. Tea Base

Bring 1 liter of water to a boil in a kettle or saucepan.

  2. Tea Base

Remove from heat and steep the black tea bags in the hot water for 5 minutes, then remove the tea bags and discard them.

  3. Fruit Infusion

Add fresh raspberries to the warm tea and gently muddle them with a spoon to release their juices. Let the mixture cool to room temperature, about 15 minutes.

  4. Fruit Infusion

Strain the tea through a fine mesh sieve into a pitcher to remove raspberry seeds and pulp, pressing gently to extract more juice if desired.

  5. Sweetener

While still warm, stir in honey until fully dissolved. If using, add fresh lemon juice and mix well.

  6. Serving

Refrigerate the tea until chilled, about 1 hour or more. Serve over ice cubes in glasses, optionally garnished with a few whole raspberries or lemon slices.

A little kitchen wisdom

Tips & notes

Use ripe, fresh raspberries for the best flavor. Adjust honey to taste depending on tartness of berries. For a caffeine-free version, substitute black tea with rooibos or herbal tea bags.

Saving it for later

Store the chilled raspberry iced tea in a covered pitcher or airtight container in the refrigerator. Consume within 3 days for optimal freshness and flavor.

Reheating

This beverage is best served cold and is not intended for reheating. Stir well before serving if stored.
