One step at a time

Let’s make it

  1. Tea Brew Base

Bring the water to a boil in a saucepan on the stovetop.

  2. Tea Brew Base

Remove the saucepan from heat and add the black tea leaves. Cover and steep for 5 minutes to extract a strong brew.

  3. Fruit and Herb Infusion

Strain the tea leaves out and immediately add the fresh peach slices and mint leaves to the hot tea. Cover and let steep for 10 minutes off the heat to infuse the flavors.

  4. Sweetening

Strain the infused tea into a heatproof pitcher to remove solids. While still warm, stir in honey if using until dissolved. Adjust sweetness to taste.

  5. Cooling

Allow the tea to cool to room temperature, then refrigerate until thoroughly chilled, about 30 minutes to 1 hour.

  6. Serving

To serve, fill glasses with ice cubes and pour the chilled peach mint black tea over the ice. Garnish with a sprig of fresh mint or a slice of peach if desired.

A little kitchen wisdom

Tips & notes

Use ripe, fragrant peaches for best natural sweetness and flavor. Gently bruising mint leaves before steeping releases their aroma without bitterness. Honey can be replaced with sugar or agave if preferred. For a stronger mint flavor, add additional leaves during the steeping phase.

Saving it for later

Store leftover iced tea in a covered container in the refrigerator. Consume within 3 days for best freshness. Stir before serving as flavors may settle.

Reheating

Reheat leftovers to 165°F (74°C) only if serving warm, but this tea is best served iced and chilled. Avoid reheating for iced preparation.
