One step at a time

Let’s make it

  1. In a medium saucepan, combine water, fresh ginger slices, and lemon slices. Bring to a boil over medium-high heat.

  2. Once boiling, reduce heat to low and simmer for 5 minutes to infuse the flavors.

  3. Remove the saucepan from heat. Add the black tea leaves to the hot water and steep for 4-5 minutes, depending on desired strength.

  4. Strain the tea through a fine mesh sieve into a heatproof pitcher, removing tea leaves, ginger, and lemon slices.

  5. Stir in honey while the tea is still warm until completely dissolved. Adjust sweetness according to taste.

  6. Let the tea cool slightly at room temperature, then chill in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour before serving.

  7. To serve, fill glasses with ice cubes and pour the chilled lemon ginger tea over the ice. Garnish with a fresh lemon slice if desired.

A little kitchen wisdom

Tips & notes

For a stronger ginger flavor, increase the amount of fresh ginger or extend simmering time slightly. Use freshly squeezed lemon juice for extra brightness if lemon slices are not available. Adjust honey to your preferred sweetness level.

Saving it for later

Store leftover iced tea in a sealed container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Do not leave the tea at room temperature for longer than 2 hours to ensure freshness and safety.

Reheating

Reheat leftovers to 165°F (74°C) if desired, or serve cold over ice for best flavor.
