Let’s make it
Preparation
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly grease a 9x5-inch loaf pan or line it with parchment paper.
Meatloaf Mix
In a large mixing bowl, combine ground turkey, bread crumbs, egg, chopped onion, minced garlic, milk, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and black pepper. Mix gently until ingredients are just combined; avoid overmixing to keep meatloaf tender.
Assembly
Transfer the meat mixture into the prepared loaf pan and press down lightly to form an even loaf shape.
Glaze Preparation
In a small bowl, prepare the tomato glaze by mixing ketchup, brown sugar, and mustard until smooth. Spread the glaze evenly over the top of the meatloaf.
Baking
Bake the meatloaf in the preheated oven for 50 to 55 minutes until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C) and the glaze is set and slightly caramelized.
Resting
Remove the meatloaf from the oven and let it rest for 10 minutes before slicing. This helps retain juices and makes slicing easier.
Tips & notes
Use lean ground turkey for a healthier option, but avoid ultra-lean to keep the meatloaf moist. Do not overmix the meat to maintain tenderness. Let the meatloaf rest before slicing to keep it juicy.
Saving it for later
Store leftover meatloaf in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. It can also be frozen in a freezer-safe container for up to 3 months. Thaw in the refrigerator before reheating.
Reheating
Reheat slices gently in a microwave or in a preheated 350°F (175°C) oven covered with foil to prevent drying, until warmed through (about 10-15 minutes).
